Get away from it all in this in this rural retreat at Loanmhor in Shannochie, accessed via a rough track. Located on the southern tip of the island, Loanmhor overlooks fields and countryside, yet is only 3 miles to the nearest village of Kildonan, which has a hotel serving food and drinks to the public.
Inside this stylish detached property, the spacious kitchen/dining room has plenty of room for everyone to dine together. The wood burner in the living room creates a cosy atmosphere for guests to relax, especially in those cooler months. A sun room at the back of the house provides additional space for guests to unwind in and it overlooks the garden and fields. It opens out onto a decked area, which is a lovely spot to enjoy the Arran sunshine with a glass of wine. Three of the bedrooms have an en-suite shower room, including the downstairs bedroom, which could benefit guests who may be less mobile.
Loanmhor is a great place to base an Arran holiday, with Kildonan offering a great beach where seals are frequently spotted and Whiting Bay just 6 miles away. Whiting Bay has a golf club, shops, restaurant and coffee shop along with a children’s play park on the beachside.
In the opposite direction, head to Blackwaterfoot via Lagg which has the new Arran Distillery, where guests can enjoy a ‘wee dram’ and some lunch in the café. Beach 3 miles. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
