Enjoy a seaside holiday in a pretty traditional cottage known as ’The Twelve Apostles’, just a few yards from the beach in the tiny village of Catacol. Each of these historically famous fishermen’s cottages has a different upper window so that when the men were at sea, their wives could light a candle and each man would know which house was signalling.

No 11 The Apostles is beautifully furnished and provides modern comforts yet still retains its original charm and character. A window seat in the spacious living room allows guests to enjoy uninterrupted views to the sea and across to the Mull of Kintyre beyond. There is a pretty enclosed front garden, just a few yards from the beach, with lawn, shrubs, pebble path and traditional stone wall. There is seating for guests to savour the magnificent views down the Kilbrannan Sound with its spectacular sunsets. There are three beautifully furnished bedrooms with bedroom 3 having a built-in, full-size platform bed suitable for an adult or a child and a chest of drawers for storage.

Located on the west coast of Arran in the National Scenic Area of North Arran, this is a much photographed and iconic island landmark offering stunning sea and mountain views, walks and wildlife. The cottage is ideal for walkers, golfers and wildlife enthusiasts, or for those who simply wish to relax in front of the wood burner and nod off to the sound of the sea. It provides a wonderful base from which to explore both the spectacular coastal and mountainous location in the immediate area together with the rest of Arran. Lochranza with the Arran Distillery, golf course, places to eat and drink and the Claonaig ferry to hop across to the Kintyre Peninsula is just 2 miles away. When you return to the cottage, a handy utility room makes the perfect space for storing outdoor gear. Shop and pub 3 miles, hotel serving food and bar 200 yards.

Loved the location and the property which has all necessary conveniences except for a dishwasher. Very comfortable. Small problem when the toilet cistern stopped refilling, but this was attended to same day (Saturday) – very prompt and satisfactory response. Weather was fantastic and loads to do if you’re a walker/hiker. Lots of wildlife spotted too. Arran is a treasure and I’d happily revisit both the isle & 11 The Apostles.

We loved our holiday and found the cottage well equipped and comfortable. A dishwasher would have been nice but not essential and the double bed is quite uncomfortable. The garden and views are lovely. It was very clean, we have no complaints. We will certainly be back.

Lovely property in a great location. Two bits of constructive feedback: 1) There didn’t seem to be any smoke alarms anywhere – maybe this should be addressed 2) The kitchen knives could do with being sharpened. Otherwise, though, a very well equipped cottage with wonderful views across the sea to the Mull of Kintyre. And so peaceful.

Fantastic having stayed in the cottage over several years thoroughly enjoyed our time yet again. Couple of minor issues, we also feel that double bed is very uncomfortable and the loss of wardrobe space was a little bit annoying didn’t feel right to hang clothing around room. We love everything else about No 11 and will definetly return next year.

The property and its location were absolutely fantastic, views amazing. I would agree with other comments regarding the double bed but otherwise found all furniture and soft furnishings and decor to be good. My only quibble would be that I would expect a dog friendly property to allow a dog to urinate in the garden!! We did honour this request but found it to be strange.

We have enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing week in this charming cottage. Very well equipped, lovely décor and furnishings in a fabulous location with beautiful scenery. The sunsets were stunning and the local wildlife fantastic. Thank you.

Loved the cottage and standard of the interior especially the little touches throughout which makes you feel at home rather than in a rental property – dispensing with wardrobes – what a good idea – and the location was superb – my husband saw the otters close to the shore almost daily. 1 tiny point – and I appreciate it is difficult to control – we found the bedrooms very warm balancing the dreaded midges if windows were open in the evening, – cotton linen rather than warm flanalette would have been more comfortable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage.

Have just had a lovely relaxing week at no 11 The Apostles, the cottage was truly charming and very cosy (we were disappointed we didn’t get a chance to use the wood burner as we love these!) However the weather was very kind to us and the cottage was warm. Everything required was there. Would have preferred some wardrobe space, and also maybe a freezer as we do like to keep a stock of food, but would and have recommended. Arran is gorgeous and we do intend to come back.

We had a very peaceful stay, the cottage was perfect for us and our wee dogs. It was a nice touch that a few Christmas decorations were there for our arrival. The views were stunning and it was very relaxing to hear the sea on opening the front door. The cottage had everything we could have hoped for and we would definitely stay there again.

Lovely cottage, beautiful location. We had a fab break, even storm Doris didn’t ruin it for us. Arran is spectacular. We’ll be returning.

One of the cleanest and best equipped cottages that I’ve stayed in. Everything is in good condition. No dishwasher, but that is hardly the end of the world. The views are stupendous and there is plenty to do in terms of pottering around locally. Early March is probably one of the quietest times on the island, but that might be why we saw an otter twice.

Our second visit and we loved it as much as last year. Thanks for the new bed. The cottage is lovely and in the best location on the island, the west coast. Despite being Easter, the island was extremely quiet.

Lovely warm, clean, well-equipped cottage and a near-perfect location. Stunning views, sunsets, walking nearby and a brilliant bus service if you don’t want to drive. We were lucky with the weather except for two overnight dramatic wind storms which sadly resulted in many stranded pink jellyfish the next day. Only thing I would add would be a bird-feeder in the garden and advice where to buy birdseed – there were many birds visiting! We would love to come again next year. Thank you.
